see you at earls

will take a hiatus from my marthastewartesque behavior (am making turkey stock and reorganizing Christmas ornaments at the moment) to join all and sundry at 7pm-earls-looking forward to seeing those who can make it!!!

Well, my pretties...

...i am very sorry for the previous non blog-had one written then somehow didn't publish it but when i hit the publish button nothing was there-in the interest of ascertaining responsibility/delegating blame for the non blog have to put it all on my own shoulders!
anyhow, am here now-so nice to hear from you all-sorry you are languishing in programming world, Nathan-another young friend of mine is working for Bioware and doing very well-but i know what you mean-come in to visit if you can!!!was nice to see Kim J and Jessica Mc just before thanksgiving-they stopped in-kim was doing some work in a psych course that needed a classroom as a guinea pig-so i agreed to be the guinea-est of pigs and let her sit in-Jessica was in from OTTAWA -so wonderful to connect with you both!!!
so, am going to teach PI in a few days....any suggestions as to approach?? things to do, things to avoid??? also, am doing the alchemist (paul coelho) in eng 20-1 instead of lord of the flies-everyone is tired of dead babies (lamp at noon) dead soldiers (occurance at owl creek bridge) dead elephants (shooting an elephant) and dead winos(Cask of Amontillado) so though that a novel that ends with a dead piggy wasn't a good idea...if any of you have not read coelho's book it's a great read, easy and yet thoughtful-Nathan, it would give you the existential work out you may be looking for
anyhow, must run-please respond and keep in touch
i miss you all
luv

mea culpa mea culpa...

am so sorry i haven't blogged lately (now there's a verb for you- let's conjugate it in French-il blog, vous bloggez, nous bloggon) i actually forgot how to access my postings-and just sat down tonight to follow marty's careful directions for me-sorry,sorry you guys-i hope someone will read this and respond-
i am sure everyone has begun their new lives-i have spoken with some of you and i am excited for all of you-the new year has started at facey-i have another eng 30 class and we are just doing that phil/psych stuff early in the year-got a little stuffy (both in subject matter and in atmosphere) so i promised the kids i would bring popsicles today-they were a hit-in spite of the almost below zero temp outside- they reminded me of our cookies and milk day-
so post post you guys-keep in touch and let me know all is well-
-taryn-am glad allusions to hamlet bring memories of our class and keep us focussed on our better selves
-a young student brought in a can of soup today and she said 'it's from Kyle'-made my day!!!!! remember maimonides and the 8 steps of the golden ladder of charity
God Bless

interpreting literature...

...most appreciated comments today in class-am so looking forward to Amy's and Kim's poems on the respectuve pulchritude of their respective purses-in part to show, that poetry of course can be on any subject-does not have to be on the big questions of life-i think of William Carlos Williams poem 'the red wheelbarrow' which often really ticks off (fill in your own vulgarity here) most students as it seems easy, childish and naive-almost as if someone is having a 'bit o' fun' with yer by callin' it a poem-any responses?

at last, at last...

...it's too good to be true but ah'm here...ah'm here!!!! Will see who all has read my blog-the following is the anecdote that subsequently resulted in the title of Lynn Truss' highly successful book on punctuation (who said grammarians can't make oodles of money?) Whoever reads the blog first, put the CORRECTLY punctuated last line on the blackboard the next day in class.
toodle-doo

A panda walked into a cafe. He ordered a sandwich, ate it, then pulled out a gun and shot the waiter. 'Why?' groaned the injured man. The panda shrugged, tossed him a badly punctuated wildlife manual and walked out. And sure enough, when the waiter consulted the book, he found an explanation. 'Panda,' ran the entry for his assailant. 'Large black and white mammal native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.'

I apologize for the lack of posts....

Martin here. just putting up a happy lil note saying hullo. maybe have a cool idea here. would it be cool if i set up accounts on this page for anyone that wanted one, and then let them post freely here. Maybe get some decent discusions going? tell me if you like the idea either in person or in the guestbook. if i get enought feedback i'd be more than willing to put in the effort to build a little community here.

p.s.
looking toward a site overhaul soon. if i get ambitions perhaps even a tagboard. looking for sugestions on how you people would like the site to look like. if anyone would like to contribute any sort of artwork, i could probably also work it in nicely.

It would be cool to make this place more community orientated,
